Domino’s: Pizza Delivery Experts Now Arriving on Electric Vehicles

January 15, 2013 by DeeRidekick

Domino’s in the Netherlands have turned their delivery drivers into moving bullhorn ads for their pizzas, still guaranteed to arrive in 30 minutes or less.  How? They’ve invested in electric scooters with speakers that use human voice and engine recordings that carol “Dominos Dominos Dominos” or shout “Pizza!  Yummm!” at passing pedestrians.  Domino’s implemented the talking scooters to warn other motorists that the originally quiet electric scooter was approaching.  Watch this video for a laugh: Domino’s Talking Electric Scooter

While their talking scooters may be a hoot, literally, we’d like to applaud Domino’s for their use of green energy.  In Sydney, Australia, another Domino’s store is testing a fleet of deliver electric bikes and promises to acquire up to 3000 electric delivery scooters by 2014.  Pizzas won’t be the only thing trying on green for long.  A Noodles & Co. store located in East Lansing, MI will be delivering orders by bike, covering all of the nearby college campus and over a mile into town.  If you are expecting any packages this holiday season, your shipment may arrive in UPS’ new “Cargo Cruisers” or by bike delivery.

If Domino’s and UPS are catching the bike bug, who knows? Maybe the next time you order a pizza or have a package shipped, the delivery guy will be arriving by Ridekick.  Just remember, you heard it here first!
