Interbike 2011 Re-Cap

October 12, 2011 by DeeRidekick

It has been a few weeks since Interbike, and Ridekick is still reveling in the experience. From the Outdoor Demo to Interbike, the Ridekick team put in countless hours, had numerous positive experiences, and got to participate in some awesome events. Here are some highlights of our trip to Interbike in Las Vegas:

On Monday evening after Day One of the Outdoor Demo, Mark, Dee, Jon, and I decided to take a blank Ridekick trailer lid to Fremont Street to get spray-painted. This artist was outstanding! He took a blank Ridekick lid and completely reinvented a look for it in about 15 minutes! We took the lid back to our hotel and decided we needed to display it in our booth at Interbike, which we did. Watch part of the video here, and make sure to check out the finished product in the picture below.

On Tuesday at the Outdoor Demo, Dee and I met the Ride for Reading Founder, Matthew, and the Director of Special Projects, Daniel. Ride for Reading is a non-profit with the mission of “promoting literacy and healthy living through the distribution of books via bicycle to children from low-income neighborhoods.” They were excited about adding the Ridekick power trailer to their program. They envision it being used by their volunteers who might not otherwise be able to participate in the book deliveries due to physical abilities. Matthew and Daniel invited Ridekick to participate in a ride, Thursday during Interbike, that delivered books via bike to Peterson Elementary School in Las Vegas. Dee had the opportunity to partake in the ride from the Sands Convention Center to Peterson Elementary with her Ridekick power trailer and deliver books to the students of the school.

Don getting ready to start the Mobile Social ride!

That evening, Kim and Don from Ridekick got the chance to shut down a few lanes on the Las Vegas Strip by riding in the 5th Annual Mobile Social. The ride started at the Sands Convention Center and ended at The Beat Coffeehouse & Downtown Cocktail Room on Fremont Street where drinks were provided by New Belgium Brewery. Hundreds of participants took part in the ride, some with dogs, some with boom-box attachments, but all with their bikes.

Overall, Ridekick made a splash in Las Vegas this year, and I don’t just mean at the pool of our hotel. We’re already looking forward to next year!
