Just another bikers’ day in paradise…

July 18, 2011 by DeeRidekick

New Belgium rocks… Need I say more?

I unfortunately did not participate in the Urban Assault Ride (UAR) yesterday, but I did cruise down to New Belgium Brewery with my Ridekick power trailer for the after-party and was blown away! Never have a seen such a great crowd of people gathered together to express their love of biking… and in some very creative costumes.

If you haven’t heard of the UAR, I recommend you check it out. It’s the nation’s biggest bike scavenger hunt! Over 900 riders dressed up and rode through Fort Collins, stopping at check points to complete an obstacle and receiving a clue for the next course.

Riders completed the course from an hour and twenty minutes to two hours – and the winners received sweet prizes, from Timbuk2 backpacks to a year’s supply of Jack Link’s Beef Jerky (that’s a lot of jerky!).

After the race, participants (and community members) entered the New Belgium territory for quite the party! Talk about beer and food (PIZZA CASBAH…mmm…) and games! I spent about an hour just walking around, eating some food and exploring the fun contests exhibitors were putting on.

Raffles for New Belgium cruisers were commencing about the time I slipped out and biked home. It was getting a little too toasty outside for me, and against my better judgment, I did not go through the slip-n-slide blow-up water station to cool off.

Well, if you missed Fort Collins’ UAR, Denver’s is this weekend. Check out more information here.

And for all you Coloradoans out there, don’t forget about the Tour de Fat coming up in a few weeks! More brews, bikes, and bravados to come!

Ah, I love Fort Collins.
