The trees turning yellow, elk roaming freely and autumn in the air made for a perfect day up in Estes Park, Colorado for my first Ridekick experience. My name is Katie and I am a senior at the University of Colorado at Boulder doing some Intern work with Ridekick International. I decide that since I am working with marketing this new product, I should take it out and test it myself. My boyfriend, Patrick, and I loaded the bikes and Ridekick power trailers up in our truck and spent the whole afternoon enjoying ourselves. We decided to ride the path around Lake Estes and from the moment we took the Ridekick trailers out, until we were finished, we received many curious looks. We got stopped three times throughout the day by passersby asking, “What is that on the back of your bikes?” These little electric power trailers were definitely turning people’s heads because of the unique design and the power that it administers.
I was a little skeptical at first about the Ridekick power trailer. I was unsure about how accurately I would be able to stop if there was an emergency. I am also known to be a little clumsy, unfortunately, and was concerned about how steering my bike would be with an electric push. This test ride eliminated all the fears that I had. I got on and pushed the throttle down and zoom! I took off with no problem and I was able to control my bike very easily. When it came to stopping I was able to stop quickly, just like there was no Ridekick electric trailer on the back. I was able to enjoy the scenery on my Ridekick electric trailer instead of working my legs vigorously trying to get up those steep hills.
I will have my Ridekick trailer for 5 more days and I intend to use it to my advantage. Patrick and I had so much fun today in Estes Park, that we plan to go to a local pumpkin patch called Jake’s Farm with our Ridekick power trailers and pick out some pumpkins. We are also making it our goal to ride them all week to the grocery store, our favorite coffee shops and work, for him, and around campus, for me. This is a great way to get more people on bicycles because it allows for a little electric push when one needs it. The enjoyment that I got from trying out the Ridekick trailer will stick with me and encourage me to commute by bike more because of all the benefits it has to offer.
